Here we go!

So this weekend in move-in weekend! We will be without internet for a bit, so I won't be around. I'll try to update once and a while when I'm here at mom's house. Just wanted to let you guys know I'm not abandoning you!!!

Have fun!

I'm like that Cake song...'You're never there..you're never ever ever there'

So I'm MIA lately. Sorry about that. We are moving our stuff into our apartment this weekend. Yay!! We aren't actually moving ourselves in until next weekend tho. I can't wait.

Scott had another cyst this week. This time on his leg. So we spent Tuesday at the hospital dealing with that. Last night it was so swollen from work. Hopefully it looks a little better today. I thought it was really cool, mom totally pulled the mom card on him and told him he better put it up today for a while at work, and made him lay around all day yesterday. I'm sure he enjoyed having us wait on him!

I'll try to update more once things calm down and we are settled.

This doesn't have a name that I know of....

Dad got this recipe from someone and mom passed it along to me since dad can't have all the sugar. If you double click it should open in a full window if you'd like the recipe. Feel free to save the picture or just jot down the recipe. I haven't tried it so I don't know if its good..but with those ingredients...how could it not be?!?!

This post is for Keri

So Keri gives me a hard time about not posting so this post is just for you. I am trying to upload the layout I did of Alexis, but its giving me some sort of error. So for the time being..Keri this is for you....

I haven't posted in a while

Hey, so I have more updates!!

First off, Scott is doing apartment repair now for a local company, and he LOVES it. He's working by himself so he doesn't have annoying co-workers to deal with. This job also led to us find an apartment to move into. Sept. 15th, we can move into a 2 story, 2 bed room apartment (with washer, dryer, dishwasher, yard and they allow pets!!) We are getting a great deal on it as well.

I decided today I was tired of not scrapbooking and threw together a little something for mom. Here is a look!

Here is my August 8th post :-p

Its been brought to my attention I haven't posted since July 15th, so here is a post!!!

Scott has been working for an A/C company for a few weeks now...but is currently in the process of speaking with a guy about another job doing maintenance work on some apartments/houses this man owns. I haven't found anything yet, but partly because we are going back to Pensacola this weekend for Sarah's wedding (Scott's sister) It should be VERY interesting as some of his family is a little...shall we say...eccentric. I did go on an interview with Kohl's however...they felt I wasn't what they were looking for. But, oh well. Scott and I decided that once we are back from our trip I'll start looking again. I chopped most of my hair off, and hopefully after this weekend I'll have some pictures to show. This past Sunday was Stephen's birthday, we went bowling (I came so close to beating Scott and Phillip..but in the end I didn't :-( ) and then out to a hibachi grill for dinner. According to mom it was 'no Peaking Garden' but it was fairly okay food.

I've been slacking horribly on scrapbooking since we got here. I just don't seem to have any motivation or inspiration. But soon I will be taking my nephews out to take pictures, and hopefully that will inspire me.

Anyhow, I'm gonna be cooking dinner for everyone tonight (mmm Honey Vanilla Chicken, Egg Rolls and Steamed Asparagus, anyone?) and Scott should be getting home before too long, so adios!!

Good news!!

Well I finally have good news. Scott has a job! He starts tomorrow. We haven't even been here a week. And its the first place he applied! I'm going tomorrow to apply at a few places, and I've already applied at Winn Dixie. Things are finally looking up. Scott and my brother are acting like two peas in a pod. We went to the arcade for a little while earlier, and Scott just popped a lasagna in the oven. I haven't had a chance to do any scrapbooking yet. I've been taking pictures tho!!! Hopefully I'll get some done tonight. I'm gonna be working on two baby quilts as well. A friend in Pensacola is due to have twins in September so when we go for Sarah's wedding I'm hoping to be able to drop them off for her shower. Alright, I'll update more later I wanna find a snack!

We moved

We are now back in Lafayette. After a month of not being able to find jobs we decided yesterday morning to go ahead and move back home. So we are back at Mom and Dad's house for a while. We had the cable shut off late last week so that's why I've been missing. I'm worn out from being in the car so long. Oh..the car. that's a whole 'nother story. post that later.

I was talking to my sister on the phone, and she's starting to get interested in digiscrapping, so I thought I'd post more links for freebies and tutorials. If you know of any I don't have please feel free to leave me a comment! I love these sites. This is not a complete listing but most of my favorites.. We still haven't found jobs. The oil change job Scott had fell through. But, he has an interview at 3 today with an electrical company (he's also waiting to hear back from a guy at a medical transport place and he's gonna go try a few restaurants *I hate when he works at restaurants so if that's where he ends up...expect lots of complaining ;-) and I received an email from the local newspaper about a part time position for a "mail inserter" not the greatest job ever..but it pays almost 7 bucks an hour..and I REALLY need a job.

We were really stressing out about the rent, but found out today its going to be paid in just a few days. So I'm in a fairly good mood at least. We also sort of discussed moving back to Louisiana. I like it here in Florida..Its beautiful and its definitely been interesting being somewhere new, but we just can't seem to keep up. The month and a half he worked for the A/C company was really the only time in 2 years (when we moved here) that we've been somewhat ahead. It stresses me out horribly. And if you know me...I don't handle stress well AT ALL. I never realized how bad it was until Scott had to deal with it, LOL.

And here is a picture I just have to share.

Blog

I'm trying to figure out how to customize my blog. I want to change the background and a few other things. I'm having a hard time finding any information on how to do so. If you have any ideas or suggestions please leave me a comment! I'm also looking into other blogs, maybe I can find something with an easier customization process. Stay tuned to find out what I decide.

Now I'm hungry...

Came across this in an email from allrecipes.

It looks and sounds good. I'm all about pork and apples.

Gorgonzola and Apple Pork Chops

Gorgonzola cheese pairs so perfectly with apples. Now just imagine that perfection as a creamy sauce stuffed inside sauteed pork chops. Sounds fabulous but complicated? Not with this recipe!

  • Prep Time: 20 Minutes
  • Cook Time: 15 Minutes
  • Ready In: 35 Minutes
  • Yields: 4 servings
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 4 large boneless pork chops, that can be butterflied
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 sweet apples of your choice, peeled and chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups crumbled gorgonzola cheese
DIRECTIONS
  1. Butterfly each pork chop by slicing horizontally through the center with a sharp knife. Leave them attached on one side so they can be flipped open to create a butterfly shape.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add pork chops, reduce heat to medium and cook slowly for 5 to 7 minutes each side, or until they are done to your liking. Set aside.
  3. Melt butter or margarine in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add apples and saute until tender, then turn off heat and add cheese to skillet. Mix together slowly to form a creamy thick sauce.
  4. Place reserved chops on serving plate and stuff each one with 1/4 of the apple/cheese mixture. Serve hot.
I'll let you know when I try it. If you try it first, let me know how it was!!!

Finally got blogger to let me upload my pages. Nothing spectacular...but I enjoyed making them.

Just made the most beautiful amazing smelling cornbread. Threw in a few jalapenos...some cheese, some corn and a few spices. After it was cooked I threw some cheese on top then popped it back in to brown..and it looks great. Can't wait to eat it.

Various things

Scott got a job today!! He starts Monday morning at a local oil change place. I was watching Africam and scrapbooking (fun combo!!) and there were a TON of zebras!! It was like March of the Zebra's! Took some pictures....

Momma

Well, I had planned on posting a few L.O.'s I've done recently, but for some reason blogger will only load one of them.

Its not much, but I was looking through pictures earlier and found these of Mom, and since she's not gonna have a garden this year I figured I might as well take advantage of this kit.

Eventually when blogger will allow me, I'll post some other L.O.'s

Long Day

It has been such a long day!!! We went to the orientation class today, and I thought it was a job fair..well I was wrong. In order to keep our food stamps (since we are currently both unemployed) we have to do volunteer work. I did go today and put an application in at an all organic grocery store. I personally don't know a whole lot about organic/natural foods...but its for a receiving clerk and I have actually done that before, so I'm hoping to get a call back in a few days.

On to some fun stuff. Here are a few pictures I took on Africam last night....

I didn't take these pictures of the monkeys...but I saw them on the africam forum and they were just too cute not to share!!!

Can't sleep.

Having trouble falling asleep after taking a nap today. And I'm not looking forward to going to the Escarosa career fair thing tomorrow. So I'm watching Africam..and I'm watching the sweetest monkey ever! He's such a tiny baby, and he's got huge ears, and he's just so cute. Its been a fairly busy morning so far. I saw about 20 zebra and who knows how many impalas earlier. I couldn't get MWSnap in time for the monkey, but I did get a few other animals. I'll post them later today. I'm gonna try to get some rest.

Remember when...

Man I'm posting alot this weekend!!!

Remember growing up...how there was always that house everyone spent all their time at? There were a few places I considered home growing up that were close friends, who were like family. I spent most of my teenage years bouncing around friends homes. Mom can attest to that! I spent most of my time at her best friends house!! I am beginning to realize that even tho I don't have children....my house is becoming that house. For the first time since I've moved out, people actually come to see me for a change. Those of you who read about the cat-sitting adventure...well it looks like they are coming back. Along with the owner. *No more air mattress tho!!!* And I sit here typing this, Scott is on his way home, with Paul *the cat man* and our friend Jes who had a little falling out with her boyfriend and wants to come spend the night. I always thought if I ever had kids I wanted to be "that house". Looks like I don't need the kids!

I just hope I can open my home to people the way others have opened theirs to me. I will definitely need some patience and tolerance the next few weeks while Paul is here. We have lived together before, and honestly...it was a nightmare. I am hoping this time will be a little different. I know I've changed alot since then, and the good thing is..this time I won't have to look for a place if it doesn't work out. (the joys of being able to do the 'kicking-out"!!)

Anyhow, its almost 3 am and everyone should be arriving here soon. I'll update you guys on how this adventure goes.

In that mood...

So I got Adobe PhotoShop 7 installed on the computer today, and decided to play around a little bit.
Haven't really tried to scrapbook anything yet tho.

This last picture was actually done with one of the online editors, I can't recall which at this particular moment however. When looking over this after I posted it..I noticed that in this bottom picture Scott is giving the finger, I'm very sorry about this..

Saturday, June 9, 2007

Wow!!!

So I've been having alot of trouble finding a photo editing software that has everything I want...(and is free!!!), or doesn't have a virus (nasty limewire...). Anyhow, I decided to try a search for online photo editors and came across these neat sites...

myImager This one isn't quite what I'm looking for, but its easy to use, and has a few features I like.

pixer.us : I like the features under Special FX.

Phixr : I didn't really play with this one to much.

Picnik : From what I've seen so far this one has some really awesome effects (under creative tools). I saw effects there that my PSP didn't even have!!!

GIFworks: Has a few cool effects

I haven't really gone in depth with any of these yet, just kinda snooped around the sites. I'll be editing some pictures over the next few days and I'll let you guys know which one I like the best and why...

Rain Rain Go Away

I really want to get out and take some pictures...but its just starting to rain and I don't feel like playing in the rain. :-(

So instead I decided to clean up my bookmarks, and I complied a list of some of my favorite scrap booking blogs/sites. This is by no way a complete listing, just a few I picked out.

http://www.digiscrapdepot.com over 1000 awesome kits and embellishments

http://pillowgirlscraps.blogspot.com great site

http://princesspamela.typepad.com tons of templates

http://horseshirts.blogspot.com one of my favorites!!!

Randomness

I got bored and decided to search for useless facts. Here are a few. I can't promise all are accurate, I got them from random websites but at least they are amusing.

***I'm also watching a beautiful sunrise on Africam.

The duckbill platypus can store as many as six hundred worms in the pouches of its cheeks.

Giraffes can't cough.

You can house break an armadillo.
Pigturducken is a pig, stuffed with a turkey, which is stuffed with a chicken, deep fried in oil, which is usually put into something similar to a horse trough over propane burners. **Uh...No thanks, I'll stick with my regular turducken

Beer is made by fermentation cause by bacteria feeding on yeast cells and then defecating. In other words, it's a nice tall glass of bacteria doo-doo. *** I should tell Scott this.....
The estimated number of M & M’s sold each day in the United States is 200,000,000.

Your thumb is the same length as your nose.
It only takes 7 lbs of pressure to rip off your ears. ** I would not want to be part of that test group!!

We got the Jeep out of the shop today!!! Now we just need the money to register it and put insurance on it, and we have a vehicle again!!!

Wake up call.

A friend of ours recently got evicted from his house, and asked if he could bring his two cats over for a night or two. We decided to be nice and so now we have Winter and Haze over. Haze is a beautiful gray cat, and Winter is a Himalayan. Haze had to be bottle fed as a baby and since we were all living together at the time, he knows us fairly well, and he is an incredibly sweet loving cat who LOVES attention..and sleeping on the bed. Winter on the other hand, is a bit of a wild child. He loves to play and chase things. Yesterday I stepped outside with him to show the neighbor, and her husband started playing one of those little recorder/flute thingys. Needless to say, Winter freaked out and I had to literally pull his claw from where he embedded it in my shoulder!

Now, on to the 'wake up call' part....We have an air mattress...a really nice, expensive air mattress...Therefore we really didn't want the cats in our bedroom. We shut off all the doors to the bedroom before bed last night so they couldn't get in. Well at 7 this morning right as the alarm was going off, I felt an odd sensation. I open my eyes and there is Haze, lovingly rubbing himself against me. I grab him and immediately get him as far away from the bed as possible. Climb back into bed..and I feel it. We are sinking. That little brat ripped (and I don't mean he just put a hole..he RIPPED) the bed wide open. Thankfully if he had to pop it, he waited til we were waking up (or at least Scott was!!), but...we have no money for a new bed. I'm hoping a patch works, because I doubt the friend we are cat sitting for will have the money for a new mattress. I still haven't figured out how he got in. When I went to remove him from the room, my door was open. And then, we found the other cat under a chair in the room as well. I don't know how they did it. Now, its way to early for *me* to be awake, so I'm gonna crawl on our little 'company' twin mattress and go back to sleep..and hope I don't find cats in my room again.

Exploring

Scott took me walking around downtown today and we took some pictures.

Thursday, May 24, 2007

What a day.

Today has been awful.

Scott finally went back to work today after having bronchitis, only to be laid off! They have gotten really slow at work, and there are no jobs right now so he got cut. While out looking for a new job today, the truck started overheating and the oil pressure light kept coming on. We got the oil changed and decided to change out the spark plugs and Scott pulled the thermostat so the truck would stop overheating....Well when he put everything back together a screw for the water heater was stripped and now water just pours right on out. Now we have no vehicle. No jobs. Life is grand. On the up side of things, Scott found a guy who will come pick up the truck in the morning..and pay us $650.00. Which is enough to tow the jeep sitting at his parents house to a shop where they will install the engine we already have for it! And Scott got a call for a job interview tomorrow.

Have to check on dinner!!!

Saturday, May 19, 2007

Its just been a few hours..but it feels like days!!!

Scott had me take him to the E.R. yesterday because he's been feeling icky for a few days. Turns out he has bronchitis. He can't work for 5 days which really really sucks. Not only because we could use the money, but he's cranky and I'm having a really hard time dealing with it. On top of all that, he has decided that we have to quit smoking. Which is a great...expect I REALLY REALLY REALLY want a cigarette!!! Butterscotch discs just aren't cutting it. Its going to be a very long week and its only been a few hours since I had my last cigarette.

How cute....

My neighbors found a dog and a kitten a few days ago..and today I took a few pictures. The kitten has decided it likes me, and spent most of the day on my front porch just staring at my front door....

Computer troubles...

Just thought I'd let you all know I haven't forgotten about this thing. Scott had to reformat the computer (I lost toooooooooons of pictures) and he hasn't had a chance to get it up and running completely yet. So my time on the computer has been very limited. Hopefully he'll get some more done on it tonight if he's not exhausted from work.

I told mom I found some old pictures when I was going through a bag I have not to long ago. So once I've got the all clear from Scott I'll be scanning some in and posting a few. I've also decided rather than going and taking a thousand pictures and starting all over again, I'm going to work on the photos I found the other day before I fill up my harddrive again! ( I lost a bunch of scrapbooking stuff too.) So I'll be on the hunt again!

Toodles.

Mean cable guy!!

I had a whole post typed up, and the cable guy unhooked the cable and I lost it!!!

So here goes again..

If you don't know what Africam is.... click the link! Its amazing. Its a web cam, set up on a tree in Africa. There is a lodge on the property, and its live 24/7 and its got lions..monkeys, impalas..I mean just all kinds of animals. Its really cool. There is a program MWSnap that you can download and it allows you to take pictures from live web cams. Its really a cool and easy to use program.

Here are some pictures I took using it:
The Owl is actually from here
And the Pyramid is from Africam, if you go to the main site for Africam.

I goofed! Now what?

I'm sure this has happened to just about everyone...You send an email out to numerous people..and the one person you would rather not have receive it does...and RESPONDS!!! How exactly does one deal with this kinda thing? I wasn't talking bad about said person, didn't even mention them. I would just rather not associate with them. I don't want to be rude and totally ignore them, because they are very persistent. However, I just really don't want to be involved with this person.

Do I ignore them? Do I respond with 'Oh, I'm sorry..I didn't mean you.'?

I LOVE Audrey Hepburn (and frogs). When Scott's Aunt Nikki was down from N.Y. I told her about my life long dream to stand in front of Tiffany's with a coffee and a danish and have breakfast and she said if we go up to visit she'll take me!
