Blog

I'm trying to figure out how to customize my blog. I want to change the background and a few other things. I'm having a hard time finding any information on how to do so. If you have any ideas or suggestions please leave me a comment! I'm also looking into other blogs, maybe I can find something with an easier customization process. Stay tuned to find out what I decide.

Now I'm hungry...

Came across this in an email from allrecipes.

It looks and sounds good. I'm all about pork and apples.

Gorgonzola and Apple Pork Chops

Gorgonzola cheese pairs so perfectly with apples. Now just imagine that perfection as a creamy sauce stuffed inside sauteed pork chops. Sounds fabulous but complicated? Not with this recipe!

  • Prep Time: 20 Minutes
  • Cook Time: 15 Minutes
  • Ready In: 35 Minutes
  • Yields: 4 servings
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 4 large boneless pork chops, that can be butterflied
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 sweet apples of your choice, peeled and chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups crumbled gorgonzola cheese
DIRECTIONS
  1. Butterfly each pork chop by slicing horizontally through the center with a sharp knife. Leave them attached on one side so they can be flipped open to create a butterfly shape.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add pork chops, reduce heat to medium and cook slowly for 5 to 7 minutes each side, or until they are done to your liking. Set aside.
  3. Melt butter or margarine in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add apples and saute until tender, then turn off heat and add cheese to skillet. Mix together slowly to form a creamy thick sauce.
  4. Place reserved chops on serving plate and stuff each one with 1/4 of the apple/cheese mixture. Serve hot.
I'll let you know when I try it. If you try it first, let me know how it was!!!

Momma

Well, I had planned on posting a few L.O.'s I've done recently, but for some reason blogger will only load one of them.

Its not much, but I was looking through pictures earlier and found these of Mom, and since she's not gonna have a garden this year I figured I might as well take advantage of this kit.

Eventually when blogger will allow me, I'll post some other L.O.'s

Long Day

It has been such a long day!!! We went to the orientation class today, and I thought it was a job fair..well I was wrong. In order to keep our food stamps (since we are currently both unemployed) we have to do volunteer work. I did go today and put an application in at an all organic grocery store. I personally don't know a whole lot about organic/natural foods...but its for a receiving clerk and I have actually done that before, so I'm hoping to get a call back in a few days.

On to some fun stuff. Here are a few pictures I took on Africam last night....

I didn't take these pictures of the monkeys...but I saw them on the africam forum and they were just too cute not to share!!!

Can't sleep.

Having trouble falling asleep after taking a nap today. And I'm not looking forward to going to the Escarosa career fair thing tomorrow. So I'm watching Africam..and I'm watching the sweetest monkey ever! He's such a tiny baby, and he's got huge ears, and he's just so cute. Its been a fairly busy morning so far. I saw about 20 zebra and who knows how many impalas earlier. I couldn't get MWSnap in time for the monkey, but I did get a few other animals. I'll post them later today. I'm gonna try to get some rest.

Remember when...

Man I'm posting alot this weekend!!!

Remember growing up...how there was always that house everyone spent all their time at? There were a few places I considered home growing up that were close friends, who were like family. I spent most of my teenage years bouncing around friends homes. Mom can attest to that! I spent most of my time at her best friends house!! I am beginning to realize that even tho I don't have children....my house is becoming that house. For the first time since I've moved out, people actually come to see me for a change. Those of you who read about the cat-sitting adventure...well it looks like they are coming back. Along with the owner. *No more air mattress tho!!!* And I sit here typing this, Scott is on his way home, with Paul *the cat man* and our friend Jes who had a little falling out with her boyfriend and wants to come spend the night. I always thought if I ever had kids I wanted to be "that house". Looks like I don't need the kids!

I just hope I can open my home to people the way others have opened theirs to me. I will definitely need some patience and tolerance the next few weeks while Paul is here. We have lived together before, and honestly...it was a nightmare. I am hoping this time will be a little different. I know I've changed alot since then, and the good thing is..this time I won't have to look for a place if it doesn't work out. (the joys of being able to do the 'kicking-out"!!)

Anyhow, its almost 3 am and everyone should be arriving here soon. I'll update you guys on how this adventure goes.

In that mood...

So I got Adobe PhotoShop 7 installed on the computer today, and decided to play around a little bit.
Haven't really tried to scrapbook anything yet tho.

This last picture was actually done with one of the online editors, I can't recall which at this particular moment however. When looking over this after I posted it..I noticed that in this bottom picture Scott is giving the finger, I'm very sorry about this..

Wow!!!

So I've been having alot of trouble finding a photo editing software that has everything I want...(and is free!!!), or doesn't have a virus (nasty limewire...). Anyhow, I decided to try a search for online photo editors and came across these neat sites...

myImager This one isn't quite what I'm looking for, but its easy to use, and has a few features I like.

pixer.us : I like the features under Special FX.

Phixr : I didn't really play with this one to much.

Picnik : From what I've seen so far this one has some really awesome effects (under creative tools). I saw effects there that my PSP didn't even have!!!

GIFworks: Has a few cool effects

I haven't really gone in depth with any of these yet, just kinda snooped around the sites. I'll be editing some pictures over the next few days and I'll let you guys know which one I like the best and why...

Rain Rain Go Away

I really want to get out and take some pictures...but its just starting to rain and I don't feel like playing in the rain. :-(

So instead I decided to clean up my bookmarks, and I complied a list of some of my favorite scrap booking blogs/sites. This is by no way a complete listing, just a few I picked out.

Randomness

I got bored and decided to search for useless facts. Here are a few. I can't promise all are accurate, I got them from random websites but at least they are amusing.

***I'm also watching a beautiful sunrise on Africam.

The duckbill platypus can store as many as six hundred worms in the pouches of its cheeks.

Giraffes can't cough.

You can house break an armadillo.
Pigturducken is a pig, stuffed with a turkey, which is stuffed with a chicken, deep fried in oil, which is usually put into something similar to a horse trough over propane burners. **Uh...No thanks, I'll stick with my regular turducken

Beer is made by fermentation cause by bacteria feeding on yeast cells and then defecating. In other words, it's a nice tall glass of bacteria doo-doo. *** I should tell Scott this.....
The estimated number of M & M’s sold each day in the United States is 200,000,000.

Your thumb is the same length as your nose.
It only takes 7 lbs of pressure to rip off your ears. ** I would not want to be part of that test group!!

Wake up call.

A friend of ours recently got evicted from his house, and asked if he could bring his two cats over for a night or two. We decided to be nice and so now we have Winter and Haze over. Haze is a beautiful gray cat, and Winter is a Himalayan. Haze had to be bottle fed as a baby and since we were all living together at the time, he knows us fairly well, and he is an incredibly sweet loving cat who LOVES attention..and sleeping on the bed. Winter on the other hand, is a bit of a wild child. He loves to play and chase things. Yesterday I stepped outside with him to show the neighbor, and her husband started playing one of those little recorder/flute thingys. Needless to say, Winter freaked out and I had to literally pull his claw from where he embedded it in my shoulder!

Now, on to the 'wake up call' part....We have an air mattress...a really nice, expensive air mattress...Therefore we really didn't want the cats in our bedroom. We shut off all the doors to the bedroom before bed last night so they couldn't get in. Well at 7 this morning right as the alarm was going off, I felt an odd sensation. I open my eyes and there is Haze, lovingly rubbing himself against me. I grab him and immediately get him as far away from the bed as possible. Climb back into bed..and I feel it. We are sinking. That little brat ripped (and I don't mean he just put a hole..he RIPPED) the bed wide open. Thankfully if he had to pop it, he waited til we were waking up (or at least Scott was!!), but...we have no money for a new bed. I'm hoping a patch works, because I doubt the friend we are cat sitting for will have the money for a new mattress. I still haven't figured out how he got in. When I went to remove him from the room, my door was open. And then, we found the other cat under a chair in the room as well. I don't know how they did it. Now, its way to early for *me* to be awake, so I'm gonna crawl on our little 'company' twin mattress and go back to sleep..and hope I don't find cats in my room again.
